Two More Arc de Triomphe Prospects

                                                          Lawman and Adlerflug

This year's Arc de Triomphe promises to have another good contingent from Japan, Britain, France and Germany.

Betting leaders include Authorized IRE (Montjeu IRE) from Britain, Manduro (Monsun GER) from Germany, Soldier of Fortune (Galileo IRE) from Ireland as well as last year's winner Rail Link (Dansili).

One impressive addition is yesterday's winner of the Prix Jean Prat (Group 1) (Colts & Fillies) 1m at Chantilly who is trained in France by J-M Beguigne and runs in his Italian owners' colours (C Marzocco & E Ciampi).

Lawman FR (Invinsible Spirit IRE), who won the Prix de Jockey Club (French Derby), stepped back in trip making almost all the running early under Olivier Peslier and was never caught.  He won easily by 3 lengths and beat the French 2000 Guineas winner, Astronomer Royal USA (Danzig), into fourth.

His Derby win is no longer attributed to jockey Frankie Dettori alone and the handsome horse is now taken very seriously as an Arc prospect.

New competition for him is Adlerflug GER (the late In the Wings IRE) who won the 138th Deutsches Derby by seven authoratative lengths on very soft ground in only his fifth start.

He is a great looking, jaunty fellow who has shaken up Germany's handicap ratings and is another excellent three-year old prospect for the Arc.

He was bred by and races in the colours of Gestut Schhlenderhan, Germany's oldest stud, owned by Baroness Karin von Ullmann which she interited from her mother Baroness Oppenheim.

Adlerflug may be the be the most successful of his sire's and dam Aiyana's lines and will be a great addition to his breeder's stud especially if he goes on to win the Arc.

All of the horses leading the betting are suceessful on soft ground.  It will be interesting to see what happens in the Arc if we have a dry Fall and the ground is good.
