The Dubai World Cup meeting has officially produced five of the top six racehorses in the world, according to the World Thoroughbred Racehorse Rankings (WTRR) for 2006-07.

The now-retired Invasor (rated 129) claims overall champion status by virtue of his imperious performance in beating Premium Tap (125) in the Dubai World Cup, sponsored by Emirates.

The International Federation of Horseracing Authorities’ list is compiled by a panel of handicappers from major racing nations. It covers horses - three-year-olds and upwards - who either raced in, or were trained in countries, whose racing season ran from within Aug 1, 2006 to July 31, 2007, namely the southern hemisphere nations, plus the UAE.

The other outstanding performance on dirt also took place on Dubai World Cup night, when Asiatic Boy (120) displayed complete dominance against the classic crop when easily winning the UAE Derby, sponsored by Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group, and thereby claiming top three-year-old honours.

The best turf performances qualifying for inclusion in the current edition of WTRR again took place on Dubai World Cup night.

Admire Moon (125) put up the best overall performance on turf in the Dubai Duty Free, sponsored by Dubai Duty Free, beating Linngari (122), the same mark as Vengeance Of Rain, who landed the Dubai Sheema Classic, sponsored by Nakheel, from Oracle West (119).

Frank Gabriel Jr, CEO of Dubai Racing Club, said: “These rankings are just further evidence that the Dubai World Cup meeting is a showcase for the very best horses in the world.”
