Invitation to Silver Jubilee of the (Purebred Arabians) Dubai International Stakes

Dubai's International Arabian Raceday at Newbury Racecourse

You are all invited to attend the Silver Jubilee of the Dubai International Stakes and open day of Arabian races at Newbury Racecourse on Sunday, 26th August, from 12 noon onwards.

There is no charge for entry and there will be thousands of giveaways, free-to-enter draws with valuable prizes including international trips and a Ford Ka which will be raffled after the fifth race.

Last year the attendance was about 15,000 and the numbers are growing each year.

There is a seven-race card featuring three Group 1 races and a Group 2 with over £100,000 in prize money making it the richest Arabian raceday in Europe.

The event was inaugurated 25 years ago by its Patron HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid al Maktoum and is organised by Mirza Al Sayegh's Committee.

Sheikh Hamdan, who owns and breeds some of the world's finest Arabians at his Shadwell Stud, "wants it (the day) to be the best race day for the breed anywhere in the world."

According to commercial and operations manager for the Arab Racing Organisation, Georgina Tomkins, "In order to secure the long-term future of the sport, it will be important for Arabian racing to become more self sufficient."

She believes that ARO has the potential to bring new people into mainstream racing.

Sheikh Hamdan founded the Arab Raceday and is supported by generours sponsors, such as, the Department of Naturalization and Residency-Dubai, Dubai Properties, Emirates Airlines, Jebel Ali Racecourse (founded by Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid al Maktoum), Jumeirah, National Bank of Dubai and Shadwell Stud UK.

Exhibitors include the elegant Al Adiyat Racing Magazine, Al Maktoum Cultural Institute in Dundee, British University in Dubai, Department of Civil Aviation, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Dubai Horseracing Information Centre, Dubai International Arabian Horse Show (glorious I can guarantee), Dubai Maritime City, Dubai Summer Surprises, Dubai World Trade Centre, Global Village, Nakheel, Rashid's Legacy, Photo Exhibition and Zayed University.

Perhaps we can press Sheikh Hamdan to use his influence to extend the camel racing season so that Dubai World Cup attendees can see them as well as attend his Dubai International Arabian Horse Show next March.

THIS FREE DAY IS NOT TO BE MISSED BY RACING LOVERS.
