Update on the Dubai World Cup
And Then There Are the Horses
One of the greatest bonuses of racing is seeing horses doing their early-morning track work before a big race.
When you have a seven-race event like the Breeders' Cup with some of the world's most successful horses working out, getting out to the racetrack by 6 AM to see them up close is no problem.
Curlin USA (Smart Strike USA) comes to mind immediately. Everyone wants to see the highest-rated dirt horse in the world. And he does not disappoint.
He is so aware of himself in the nicest way. The chestnut colt is a powerful, elegant mover with a barrel chest and a stunning curved neck and head reminding one of the magnificent gray Lippizan horses. He is the penultimate athlete who looks as if he could do anything.
Curlin and Denman Ire (Presenting) could be the flat and chase counterparts without peers.
Frankie Dettori, who is riding Jalil USA (Storm Cat USA) in the DWC, said that no one should be afraid of one horse. But some horse!
All the American horses look good in every race including Well Armed USA (Tiznow USA) up against the star.
Besides Jalil, I am impressed by Japan's Vermilion Jpn (El Condor Pasa USA) who is a four-out-of-four winner for trainer S Ishizaka who is very high on him. Two out of those wins are at the Dubai World Cup distance of 2000 metres. He has adjusted well to the track and is a great looking horse.
Another sleeper is Kocab (Unfuwain USA) who has just won the Deauville Nad Al Sheba trial in commanding form. He is trained in France by Andre Fabre for Prince Khalid Abdullah (Juddmonte Stud owner). He deserves his place in the race.
Sway Yed KSA (Nisnas Ire), owned by Prince Badr bin Abdulaziz Sons and trained by S Alkahtani in Saudi Arabia, will be partnered by Olivier Peslier. He has excellent for at the distance and is a stayer.
Good luck!

so who is your favorite horse in this world cup.. analysis goes live. Thanks
Sorry for the delay in response. Our server has had a cough or two this week.
Albertus Maximus, with his fractions in Dubai, will be hard to beat if he takes to dirt. Sheikh Hamdan is a canny buyer and owner who races to win.
Asiatic Boy has been brilliant for de Kock and I have a particular fondness for Well Armed (though I doubt he can beat these two).
The American horses love the DWC.
