Vincent O'Brien to be Guest of Honour
Ninety-one-year-old Legend to be Derby Festival 2008 Guest of Honour
It is difficult to imagine that Epsom Racecourse's new Managing Director Nick Blofeld could create a more emotional environment than last year's, but he has invited the most respected man in European racing to be Guest of Honour at the 2008 Derby Festival, on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 May.
Legendary trainer Vincent O'Brien, who has won six Derbys in his career, has accepted and is deeply touched to be asked after an eighty-year career.
Blofeld said "We are so delighted to be able to welcome such a racing legend back to Epsom for the Derby Festival this year. He is undoubtedly the father of modern day trainers, and is a living god within the world of racing. It is therefore an enormous privilege for us at Epsom to bestow this honour upon such a truly great man."
There will not be a dry eye on the course.
