After making all in the Group 1 Prix Morny, Special Duty (Hennessy USA) was 'mugged on the line' by 2yo colt Arcano (Oasis Dream), according to her trainer Criquette Head-Maarek
She had no such worries in Newmarket's prestigious Electrolux Cheveley Park Stakes (Group 1) for 2yo fillies, 6f.
Head-Maarek brought the big, beautiful chestnut over from France with absolute confidence that she has one of the best fillies around.
Special Duty easily outran the favourite Lady of The Desert, Misheer, Shamandar, Song Of My Heart, Puff, Sand Vixen and Habaayib winning by 2-3/4 lengths under a powerful ride from Stephane Pasquier.
So impressive was she that she was immediately installed as 8-1 favourite in next year's Stanjames.com 1000 Guineas with no controversy.
Not only does her owner, Prince Khalid Abdullah of Juddmonte Farms, have a powerful hand for next year, his Breeders' Cup entires include the outstanding home-bred filly Midday, her stable companion Father Time, Spanish Moon and perhaps Zacinto.
