Breeders' Cup Races

For excellent commentary and betting advice on all Breeders’ Cup races, visit the Daily Racing Form site at http://www.drf.com.

Many Americans seem to think that most of the European entries for the two-day Breeders’ Cup races at Santa Anita, CA, on Friday and Saturday, November 6 and 7, are superior to their own.

That confidence is reflected in the betting with the exception of Goldikova who is drifting in the market after drawing the graveyard slot and her trainer’s announcement that she will race on Lasix for the first time.

I have been very concerned about her and think she may have peaked in August. If she were my filly, I would have retired her.

If she runs her race, she is a phenomenon.

Zenyatta leads betting for the Breeders’ Cup Classic and the mare would be the most romantic winner.

Aidan O’Brien thinks his Rip Van Winkle is fit to run despite ongoing infections in all his hooves.

If Rip is fit and gets a bit of luck, his form and competitive experience is far superior to all the other runners including Zenyatta.

I still cannot believe that the U.S. horses have no chance.  Summer Bird is very progressive and Regal Ransom impressed in Dubai.
