Venetia Williams Won Cheltenham Ladies' Award

A panel of judges made up of female professionals from different sides of the racing industry chose trainer Venetia Williams for the Cheltenham Racecourse's Ladies' Award for "The Outstanding Contribution made by a Lady to Jump Racing."

Williams not only won the John Smith's Grand National with Mon Mome but added two more victories at The Cheltenham Festival in 2009.

Mon Mome's victory finally brought her to international attention.  Before that, she was best known for training the tiny and gallant mare Lady Rebecca.

Williams has won many big races, including the Hennessy Gold Cup, the King George VI Chase, the Paddy Power Gold Cup, the Coral Welsh National and five Cheltenham Festival (the penultimate meet) races.

Williams trains close to the River Wye in Herefordshire and she is a Lady.  Congratulations!
