Early Cartier Racing Awards Leaders

The Cartier Racing Awards are determined by points earned in Pattern races combined with the opinions of a panel of racing journalists and readers of the Racing Post and The Daily Telegraph.

Early leaders up to June 6 are primarily the winners of the Irish, English and French racing Classics (the Guineas, Derby and Oaks) though the Irish will hold their Derby and Oaks later in June.

Five three-year-old colts lead:  Lope De Vega, Canford Cliffs, Makfi, Workforce, Dick Turpin.

Three-year-old fillies are Special Duty, Bethrah, Snow Fairy, Joanna and Sarafina.

Cartier older horses are Fame And Glory, Gloria De Campeao, Paco Boy, Byword, Goldikova and Sariska.

Sprinters are Equiano, Kingsgate Native, Planet Five, Prime Defender and Marchand D'Or.

Stayers are Manifest, Akmal, Harbinger, Kite Wood, Blek and Kasbah Bliss.

For Cartier Horse Of The Year, Lope De Vega and Special Duty co-lead at 98 points followed by Canford Cliffs, Fame And Glory and Gloria De Campeao tied on 60 points.

Many of these horses will race at Royal Ascot.
