Arc de Triomphe Preview
Twenty horses remain in the Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp with a new betting leader in Workforce (King's Best USA) since he was confirmed Thursday by his trainer Sir Michael Stoute.
The big three-year old won his first three races by 25-1/4 lengths, including a spectacular Epsom Derby at 7 lengths.
No explanation has been found for his 17-length loss to the brilliant Harbinger (Dansili) in the King George, said his trainer Sir Michael Stoute.
Harbinger led Arc betting until his tragic injury and retirement to stud in Japan.
The Arc, King George and Derby are all 1m 4f (12f, 2400m).
Other horses with the best form include Ballydoyle's Fame And Glory (Montjeu IRE) who won this year's Coronation Cup for four-year olds and upwards at 1m 4f. He is a consistent, professional performer.
Stablemate Cape Blanco IRE (Galileo IRE) is an exciting tryer with good Group experience at the right distance and on all ground.
Behkabad FR (Cape Cross IRE) is third favourite. He is a three-year old soft ground expert and races for HH Aga Khan.
Others with a real chance are Behkabad's major French rival Planteur IRE (Danehill Dancer IRE), three-times' Arc second Youmzain IRE (Sinndar IRE), Godolphin's Cavalryman (Halling USA) and filly Sarafina FR (Refuse To Bend IRE).
Wild card would be Duncan whose sire Dalakhani IRE won the Arc and is coming into his own at four with John Gosden as his trainer.
