Breeders' Cup Results

The Breeders' Cup had its most successful year in its 27-year history.

Attendance was up to 72,739 at Churchill Downs for the Saturday Classic alone reaching over 122,000 for the two combined days.

The two-day overall handle was $25,520,892 of which $2,858,321 was bet on Zenyatta alone.  It showed a 10.5% increase for Friday and 23.6% for Saturday.

Statistics prove that the Breeders' Cup management, with full cooperation of Churchill Downs' staff, put together a brilliant marketing plan for the year leading up to the weekend which was centered around the 2009 Breeders' Cup Classic winner, Zenyatta

She was was the first female to win the rigorous race and contested to win her second consecutive Classic in 2010 and her third Breeders' Cup race - the other being the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic.

Without her drawing power, management will have a more difficult task to acheive that level of success in 2011 (November 4 and 5).
