Ian: I don't believe in censorship to protect the horseracing industry.
Taking better care of its horses will do wonders for racing.
It is up to industry principals to protect and promote the industry.
It is not the role of the press to promote racing.
It is the role of the press to report news accurately.
Ms Cooper used the words you object to.
I agree with her and commend her kindness towards her horses.
I was present when Desert Orchid fell in his last race at Cheltenham. I fell apart as did most of us present. Fortunately, he got up and lived many more years to bring us joy.
Those who were there when Persian Punch died coming off the course have never gotten over it.
Many of us have said how glad we were not there.
Both should have been retired earlier (the same trainer) as should Kauto Star and Denman.
I am still grieving for Rewilding.
I and the public love horses and want the best for them.
If the industry does not accept that and abide by good practices, IT will kill racing.
I shall not be changing my style of writing, or censoring news or my views and morality to accommodate your wishes.

Could a better "turn-of-phrase" be used, and not "to race till they dropped"?
Horse's suffer fatalities at the race-track not solely because they have been run into the ground. I am sure Persian Punch was a much loved horse and the last thing they would have wanted was for him to suffer a premature death.
Can you please choose your words a bit better, and let's have less matter-of-fact bluntness or we won't have any horseracing left in 10 years time.

It will be great to see the Aussie exposed to the best in the world under such a talented trainer.

Sorry we commandeered him for Europe, but NZ/AUS deserves a worldwide stage for this brilliant horse and he is in good hands.
